I have over 35 years of experience in the information industry, with much of that time spent in senior management roles. I have served as an officer and on various committees for the Association of American Publishers, the Information Industry Association, and the Direct Marketing Association. My true passion has always been teaching. I made a transition to my second career as the Director of The American Language Academy at Baldwin Wallace University, followed by a move to the Executive Education Center at the University of Michigan Business School.
In 2004, I commenced full-time teaching in China at Hebei Normal University, where I received numerous awards at the university, city, and provincial levels, including the prestigious Yanzhao Friendship Award from the People’s Government of Hebei Province. In 2007, I relocated to Beijing to teach at Tsinghua University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Peking University, China Agricultural University (CAU), The Yenching Academy of Peking University, and the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2013, I was honored as Professor of the Year at the CAU MBA Education Center. I also served as advisor to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)’s Business Advisory Council (ABAC), where I played a pivotal role in designing and launching APEC’s Cross Border E-Commerce Training Program (CBET).
Upon my return to the United States in 2015, I dedicated my time to volunteering at Chrysalis and the Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership (LARRP). Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Glassell Park Neighborhood Council and the Glassell Park Improvement Association. I completed the AARP California Planning Academy and am a registered AARP Volunteer.
My educational background includes a BA in history from Rhode Island College, a Master of Arts in Far Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan, an MBA from Cleveland State University, and a Master of Science in Applied Information Management from the University of Oregon. I hold the title of Professional Fellow of the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. Additionally, I completed all but dissertation requirements for an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
