Sign up NOW to plant trees in Rio de Los Angeles State Park on 4/22/17 @ 9am

NorthEast Trees is hosting a tree planting event in the natural wetlands area of Rio de Los Angeles State Park on the morning of Glassell Park’s upcoming Earth Day event (which will also be held in Rio de Los Angeles State Park) on Saturday, April 22nd.  The event is funded by the California State Parks Foundation, and you’re invited to sign up now.  They need 75 volunteers total, and the spots are filling up fast!

To participate, you must register online at http://calparks.org/earthday  (choose Rio De Los Angeles State Park from the drop-down box) and you must also fill out the waiver form: print (two-sided if possible), fill in ONLY the info at the bottom of 2nd page, and bring with you on day of event (use THIS waiver form linked to above, not the one from the calparks.org link).

Work will include:
  • Invasive species removal
  • Water existing trees
  • Mulching trees and planting beds
  • Spreading seeds including native grasses and wildflowers
  • Planting 20 new native trees
What to bring:
  • Signed volunteer waiver
  • Water bottle
  • sunscreen, sunglasses & hat
  • Garden gloves
  • Sturdy shoes
